All are welcome to the next instalment of the Sydney Cantata Project, present two very rarely heard cantatas of JS Bach. BWV 14 is unique amongst all of Bach’s music in its opening chorus, with a thrilling and exceptionally elaborate vocal fugue. Following this chorus is a driven soprano aria paired with a corno da caccia, which is a rarely heard horn that most resembles a 17th century hunting horn. Bach presents other stunning arias for flute traverso and oboe d’amore, this is a concert not to be missed!
The Sydney Cantata Project presents their next concert this Saturday 11 November 4pm to present Bach’s Süßer Trost, mein Jesus kömmt (Sweet comfort, my Jesus comes), BWV 151 and Wär Gott nicht mit uns diese Zeit (Were God not with us at this time), BWV 14 at St John’s Anglican Church, Ashfield.
